range where the other engine stopped due to an unknown cause, and the 
propeller was feathered. The aircraft emerged from the clouds in a spin to 
the left and impacted the ground.  All six personnel were killed.

VR-BPS and later as VP-BPS in Bermuda. Had landing accident 
in Southampton in 1998.  Currently owned by Super Catalina 
Restoration who are rebuilding it to flying condition at Lee-on-
Solent airfield in Hampshire.  Scrapped in Ireland July 2012.
