plane at the base and was flown back to the USS Princeton.
An Air Force Reserve pilot wrote the plane off in an accident.

24459 (MSN 5342) to New Zealand  Oct 1943 as NZ2507.  Hit by flak over Vunakanau Apr 26, 1944. The aircraft entered 
a spin and crashed onto the end of the runway.
24460 (MSN 5343) to New Zealand Oct 1943 as NZ2508.  After service with No.30 Sqdn, RNZAF at 
Gisborne, NZ, was ferried to Espiritu Santo in the New Hebrides and handed over to 
the USN there on 21 Oct. 1944.  Royal Navy records say that this
aircraft was reconditioned and transferred to them Jul 31, 1945
as VL405 but gives no record of use or fate.  
24461 (MSN 5344) to New Zealand Oct 1943 as NZ2509.  To 30 Squadron, named "Grumpy". To Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Sep 7, 1945.
24462 (MSN 5345) to New Zealand Oct 1943 as NZ2510.  Badly damaged by enemy gunfire Mar 26, 1944 and made an emergency 
landing at Green Island. To Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm Sep 7, 1945
24463 (MSN 5346) to New Zealand as NZ2511. Damaged by enemy fire on 25 April 44.  Emergency landing 
made at Green Island, Solomons, where NZ2511 remained until repaired.  Returned to New Zealand at 
an unknown date and transferred to the British Navy on Sep 7, 1945 at RNZAF Base Hobsonville, Auckland. 
24463 also listed as being destroyed on ground by crashing PB4Y-1 38766 Aug 9, 1944, Eniwetok, but this 
seems to be a mistake since 24463 was with the Royal Navy and thus could not have been involved in 
the Eniwetok disaster.  
24464 (MSN 5347) to New Zealand Oct 1943 as NZ2512.   To No.31 Squadron. Crashed near Tobera Airfield Jul 1, 1944. The aircraft 
was hit by flak during a bombing run and spun into the ground

Jul 28, 1944, was waved off, turned away, but stalled and fell onto
quarterdeck whereupon aircraft's fuel tanks exploded.  One crew member
