14694 was tested at Mustin Field and NAS Patuxent from 
10/45 to 5/47. Stricken from Navy records May 31, 1947. As N91092 it raced as #18 
when it was purchased by pilot Ron Puckett and raced in the 1947 and 1949 
National Air Races. BuNo 14694 was a Goodyear FG-1D Corsair converted to a 
XF2G-1. Ron Puckett was a Navy test pilot and also familiar with the F2G's 
Ron acquired his F2-G in time to enter the 1947 Thompson Trophy Race with a 
stock airplane.  At that time #18 still had the original sub-rudder.  Ron took 
off after all others had completed their first lap due to a problem with an 
official.  Ron was able to move up to 3rd place, in the nineteenth lap, engine 
problems forced him to land.  In the 1949 Thompson Trophy Race, Ron came in 
second.  After the race, Ron sold his F2G to a broker who had a customer for 
the R-4360 engine. Ron believes the airplane was scrapped.

88454 (c/n 6163) SOC May 31, 1948.  BuNo 88454 was stored in a container.  It was found by
Capt. Walt Ohlrich during the 1960's.  Obtained by W. Ohlrich in 1973 and when the Navy found 
out that Walt was going to race it, they took it back.  The Navy gave it to 
the Marines for their museum.  Doug Champlin traded a Douglas Dauntless dive 
bomber for the F2G.  Registered as N4324.  When Doug Champlin moved his museum from Oklahoma to 
Arizona, none other than Ron Puckett flew the aircraft to its' Arizona 
location, Puckett the one time owner of racer #18, ex BuNo 14694. Since 1978, 
BuNo 88454 has resided at the Champlin Fighter Museum in Mesa, Arizona and 
now will be moved to Seattle.  Purchased by Museum of Flight in 2001 and stored at Boeing
Field.  Moved to the museum Nov 15, 2003
88455 (c/n 6164) tested at Goodyear from 8/45 to 5/46. Stricken from 
Navy records Aug 31, 1946. Scrapped
88456, (c/n 6165) tested at Port Columbus, Ohio and NAS Patuxent from 
9/45 to 3/46. Stricken from Navy records May 31, 1947. Scrapped
88457 (c/n 6166) Believed to have crashed near NAS Patuxent River in 1945.

Sold to owner Cook Cleland in 1947, registered as NZ5588N and listed as
Thompston Trophy racer number 84 and flown by pilot Tony Janazzo in the 1947 
Thompson Trophy Race.  The aircraft crashed on the seventh lap of the race, 
killing the pilot. (9/47) Registration Number and C/N would later be used on 
F2G-1 Race #57 (BuNo 88458).
88458 (c/n 6167) tested at Port Columbus, Ohio and NAS Patuxent from 10/45 to 7/46. 
Stricken from Navy records 1/48.  The aircraft was purchased by Cook Cleland, 
registered as N5588N, Thompson Trophy race number 57, supposedly for spare 
parts.  Registration number of BuNo 88457, N5588N along with its C/N 6166 
was utilized.   The aircraft was flown by pilot Ben McKillen Jr. in the 
1949 Tinnerman and Thompson Trophy Races.  After Air Racing, the aircraft 
went through a series of owners; John Trainor of New Hampshire, Harry Doan 
of Florida, Don Knapp of Florida, the Lone Star Museum of Texas and a 
private collector in Kansas.  In 1996, it was acquired by Robert Odegaard of 
Kindred, ND. who restored it to be the only currently flying F2G Corsair.
Seen on display 2008 at Fargo Air Museum, Fargo,ND.  Reported Feb 2009

88463 (c/n 6172): N5577N Race #74: Used for training at 
NAS Jacksonville, Fla.  Stricken from Navy records Feb 28, 1947. Pilot Cook 
Cleland purchased the aircraft and flew it first place in the 1947 Thompson 
Trophy Race. It was also flown in the 1948 and 1949 Nat. Air Races by pilot 
Dick Becker, but failed to finish.  The aircraft was purchased by Walter 
Soplata of Newbury, Ohio in 1953.  In 1997, the Western Reserve Historical 
Society of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the aircraft.  The 
Historical Society had Robert Odegaard of Kindred, North Dakota restore 
the aircraft.  Reported May 2008 sold by Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum to
individual in Coshocton, OH and under restoration to flying condition.  
Reported Feb 2009 under restoration with R. Odegaard (previous owner of 88458)
in USA.  Given civil registration of N5577N.  Crashed and burned Sep 7, 2012 Valley City,
North Dakota, pilot killed.
