and built by Theron Smith and Jarrett Lawhorn of the Fish and Wildife Service of the US Dept. of the
Interior in Alaska. It started off as Grumman G-21A (ex-USN JRF-5) s/n B-72 and it was converted directly
to its unique FWS configuration without ever being worked on by McKinnon or ever conforming to the G-21G
type design, but FWS "officially" identified it as a highly modified McKinnon G-21G. In reality, it would
have been more legitimate if it had been certified in the Experimental category as a "Fish and Wildlife
G-21" (no longer an A model, but never really a G model either.)

Model G-38 Goose Mk.1A. Serials reallocated from cancelled PB4Y-2 batch. Royal Navy records show a direct purchase of 50 Goose IA aircraft
with MSNs 0181B/0230B and serials FP475/524 (BW778/827 originally allocated but NTU) and no previous US Navy identities
listed. The book "Fleet Air Arm Aircraft 1939 to 1945" states that bureau numbers 66325/61 were alloted when the aircraft were returned
to the US Navy after the war. It may well be that the serial block 66325/66374 was allocated
in the optimistic hope that all the planes would be returned the US Navy.
"Fleet Air Arm Aircraft 1939 to 1945" gives the following serial tieups for some of the returned aircraft:
