62263 modified at Boeing Wichita in 1945 to carry the US produced T-12 bomb (redesigned Grand Slam)
Flight testing continued through 1946.  Fuselage center section between the bomb bays was removed,
making a cutout in forward and rear bomb bay doors to fit the bomb.  Testing followed at Muroc AAFB.  Six
inert casing drops at altitude of 25,000 feet were made from Mar 5, 1948.

The B-29 was surveyed at Mountain Home AFB, ID.  The Luscombe crashlanded and the crew of
2 were uninjured.

62277 converted to WB-29.  Crashed Sep 18, 1953 500 mi E of Cape Hatteras on return flight from Hunter AFB
to home base at Kindley AB, Bermuda when a runaway prop on
No. 3 engine caused it to separate and strike No. 4 engine
setting it and the wing on fire.  Pilot ordered immediate
bailout, but aircraft went out of control and exploded.
9 were able to bail out, but 6 were killed.
62279 (22nd BW) engine fire on takeoff and crashed at sea Oct 19, 1950.
