flight from McChord AFB, Washington to Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. 52 killed. Wreckage was spotted
soon after the heavy transport plane vanished, but severe weather impeded the recovery. The plane wreckage
became buried in snow and likely churned beneath the surface of the glacier for decades.
The Alaska National Guard discovered the wreckage and possibly bones June 10, 2012 on Colony Glacier. All 52
onboard were killed. 17 sets of remains recovered in 2014.

Douglas plant in Long Beach, CA. It was returning to the Tachikawa AB in Japan when it took off from Travis
AFB on June 3, 1958. At a height of 1000 feet the port wing suddenly dipped, and the aircraft fell into a
steep turn, hitting the ground about a half mile from the end of the runway, north of Highway 12.
Six of eight on board killed.
