which the aircraft went to Archerfield AP, Brisbane as N2271C.  The poor
condition of the plane led to plans to acquire two other C-47s from Hanson
being abandoned, and N2271C was left at Archerfield to rot.  Sold to
Airlease Ltd of Oregon Aug 29, 2000, leased to Century Air
as EC=?? but NTU and plane remained at Archerfield.  Still derelict in 
Australia by 2003.  Now listed (2004) as preserved as a part of the RAAF Amberley Aviation
Heritage Center at RAAF Amberley, Australia, Ipswitch, Queensland, Australia

but was diverted to SAAF Aug 11, 1944 as 6842, no RAF service.

but was diverted to SAAF as 6840, no RAF service.  Operated by 25 Squadron, AFB Ysterplaat between
1972 and 1993.  The aircraft flew its last flight as a C-47 in May 1992 and first flight as a 
C47TP (Turbo DC-3-65TP) in April 1994. After the conversion, the aircraft was transferred to 
35 Squadron, AFB Ysterplaat. The aircraft total airframe hours is 17 710. Crashed Dec 5, 2012
near Giant's Castle, Drakensbergen range (South Africa).
