Museum in 1972.  Sold to Weeks Air Museum, Tamiami, FL in 1983.  Ferried to Weeks Air
Museum Jun 6, 1987.  Allocated N4520 but NTU.  Restored and  airworthy, registered as N83525.
In 2014 ws stored dismantled and being restored.  Weeks Air Museum was moved to Polk City, FL as the
Fantasy of Flight.  The museum closed in Apr 2014 so that it could be transformed into a smaller museum
opening late 2014.

during the Korean War.  Damaged during taxi accident Jan 16, 1953 Haneda, Japan
83538 transferred to US Navy as PB-1W Bu. No. 34114. Sold on commercial market as N9235V and
later re-registered as N7726B.  Sold to Peruvian commercial operator as OB-SAB-576.
Destroyed June 1963.
83542 converted to DB-17G.  Sold on civilian market with Aero Union Corp of Chico CA as N9324Z and used as
fire bomber tanker #18.  Crashed Jul 12, 1971 near Benson, AZ.
Some parts were stored at Davis Monthan AFB.  Plane used as the
basis for the static display at Fantasy of Flight at Polk, FL, named
"Picadilly Princess".   Weeks Air Museum was moved to Polk City, FL as the
Fantasy of Flight.  The museum closed in Apr 2014 so that it could be transformed into a smaller museum
opening late 2014.
83546 delivered to Long Beach Apr 3, 1945.  To Topeka, KS for modifications before going to Lubbock, TX for
short-term storage.  Moved to Patterson Field, Ohio for storage.  Converted to CB-17G and assigned
to Air Transport Command at San Francisco.  Then assigned to Washington DC and to Germany.  In 1948 was
redesignated VB-17G (staff transport) and assigned to Andrews AFB, followed by Offutt AFB and to Japan
during Korean War.  To CB-17G.  Assigned 501st ASG, Wiesbaden [Erbenheim], West Germany Jan 1, 1948.
Redesignated B-17G.  Assigned 7160th ABG, Wiesbaden [Erbenheim], West Germany Jul 1, 1948.
Assigned to SAC Oct 13, 1948.  Redesignated VB-17G Oct 16, 1948.
Assigned to 3902nd ABG, Offutt AFB, NE Nov 12, 1948.
To storage at Davis Monthan AFB 1954.  Sold on civilian market under civilian registration of
N3703G.  In 1960 was converted to a water bomber and operated as Tanker 78.  Purchased by Military Aircraft
Restoration Corporation (MARC) in 1982.  Restored as B-17F and used in 1989 in filming of "Memphis Belle".  
Put on display at March Field and  maintained in flying condition.  Now back at Chino and 
is reportedly up for sale.  Currently with Liberty Belle Foundation and touring as the "Memphis Belle".
83547 redesignated VCB-17G.  Assigned 4000th Base Unit, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH
Assigned to 2750th ABW, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH Aug 27, 1948.  Redesignated VB-17G.
Ground looped in landing accident at Kadena AB, Okinawa Jul 21, 1950 
83559 to Topeka, KS with ATC Apr 6, 1o945.  To Patterson Field, OH Apr 8, 1945 with 4100th AAFBU.  Declared excess
to USAAF needs Oct 15, 1945.  Returned to military use Nov 7, 1945.  Converted in 1950 to DB-17G and then to DB-17P. 
Dropped from USAF inventory at Patrick AFB, FL May 1958.  Put on display at SAC Museum at Offutt AFB as
B-17F-65-DL 42-3474.  SAC museum moved in 1998 to Ashland, NE and renamed in 2001 as Strategic Air and Space
Museum.
83560 sold on commercial market as N7044C.  Scrapped in 1959.
83563 delivered Hunter Apr 7, 1945.  Slated to 447th BG but transferred to Patterson and converted to CB-17G in
Philippines, then to VB-17G.  Used by Gen Jimmy Doolitle at Kadena, Okinawa Jul 27 1945 as "Boops", also carried Gen
Dwight D. Eisenhower. Sold on civilian market as N9563Z and used as aerial tanker and for movie making.  Appeared 
in "The War Lover" and "Tora, Tora, Tora".  Later with with National Warplane Museum of Genesco, NY and is
maintained in flying condition. Sold to Lawrence Kadish, who loaned it to the American
Airpower Museum, Republic Field, Long Island, NY.  Since 2009 was at Lyon Aviation Museum, John Wayne
Airport, Santa Ana, California marked as "Fuddy Duddy" 42-97400
